Uzbekistan Research Institute of Chemical Technology begins operations

At the Uzbekistan–Korea Business Forum, a ceremony was held with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to launch joint projects and start construction together with leading companies and financial institutions of the Republic of Korea. As part of the ceremony, the Uzbekistan Research Institute of Chemical Technology began its work in Tashkent.

The institute will serve as the scientific foundation of the country's chemical industry. Its core tasks are to develop technologies for the deep processing of raw materials, to provide the scientific basis for high-value production, and to bring research results up to industrial scale.

The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Republic of Korea. Scientifically and methodologically, the institute works closely with the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), while young researchers are being trained in Korea under the capacity-building programme.

The start of the institute's work marks the first step towards a new stage for the country's chemical industry — moving from the export of raw materials to the production of high-value goods.
